Another River Run is out of the way. This year's race had about 20,000 participants. Hats off to our dedicated volunteers for helping staff all of the mile markers this year. It was great to see a complete roster.
For those of you that are new to ARES or just new to this particular event, I hope that it was a fun learning experience for you. Everyone did a wonderful job and I'm proud to work with such a great group of people. I hope you all enjoyed the day as much as I did.
I think that every event is an opportunity for us to improve our skills and learn new things. Personally, my "moment" had nothing to do with Amateur Radio. I realized as I watched a woman heading towards the finish line in her wheelchair that I take a lot of things for granted and that I let my own fears, insecurities, etc. hold me back sometimes instead of damning the torpedos and going full speed ahead. It was eye-opening for me to watch her ability. I hope that each of you left today with more than what you arrived with.
